Mini computer for on the go,
by J. Shin, 2010-03-22

People think these PDAs are outdated but they don't realize the awesome capabilities of these things. Well made, full Windows software functions - Word, Excel, Outlook, Internet Explorer, etc. Beautiful color display for photos and video playback, MP3 music playback with nice sound quality. Bluetooth and infrared allows for connection to computer WITHOUT physical hookup (although you want to hard sync for file transfers as wireless transfers are very slow). Wifi for internet connection at any wifi hot spots although I found the signal acquisition a little weak (I've set in McDonalds many times surfing the internet thru free wifi). This particular model also has an awesome feature - remote control of electronic stuff like TV, stereo, etc, using a nifty program called NEVO (it's like carrying around a universal remote control).
I was able to get a super clean, hardly used unit for under $30, complete with all cables and software. I added a Tom Tom Navigator 6 GPS software and bluetooth receiver for $20. I got a nice protective hard case for $5. I got an extra battery for $10. So, I got a very powerful mini computer with bluetooth, wifi, remote control, GPS, with video and mp3 capabilities for under $60. Nothing comes close to matching all these features (which all work well), for the price. Look around and if you can find a deal for under $50 - recommended.

at first there is not camera in this model. An secondly, there is a problem whith de earphone output, the volume for the earphone is very low, so you can not ear a thing.

Excellent Multi-purpose Pocket PC,
by Joshua B. Krohse, 2008-07-04

I purchased my IPaq RX3115 more than 2 1/2 years ago, and it has been well worth the money I paid for it ($200 on clearance! I didn't know what a good deal I was getting).
I had lost a lot of paper planners and notepads, mainly because they were boring and I didn't care about them. It took some convincing, but my wife finally gave in to my claim that I wouldn't lose a planner that was actually fun to have with me. She thought it was just an expensive toy, but it has proven to be extremely versatile and worth the expense.

Here are some things I have managed to use my IPaq for:
* Wireless web surfing (more or less - some javascript and Flash pages have major issues).
* E-mail - Gmail works well if you bookmark a link to the "html" version of the page instead of the default "mobile" version.
* MP3 playing
* Pocket Quicken - money management
* Python programming - I have version 2.4 installed, but 2.5 is available.
* Podcast downloading via wireless internet (I wrote my own Python podcast reciever, but there are now others available).
* Blog reading - Google Reader mobile works great
* Bible software
* Games
* Skype (It didn't work very well, but might be useful in an emergency)
* Listpro - I keep my schedule as a to-do list
* Voice recording
* Bluetooth file transfers
* Notetaking in Pocket Word (I have a portable keyboard)
* Drawing (there's a pretty nifty little paint program included in the Windows directory).
* FTP and SSH (for web development)
* Document reading using Acrobat Reader
* Printing to an HP Laserjet printer

Suggestions:
* With a little help from Google, you can find out how to fix the start-up screen so that it looks like a normal Today screen.
* Download a program called "Magic Button" to be able easily switch programs and actually close programs (instead of minimizing them).
* You will also want to install a program called Total Commander. It includes a much better file explorer, a notepad text editor program, and the ability to work with ZIP files.
* Make sure to use the HP Backup software, as the device will at some point inevitably crash. Mine has gone totally dead three times. Removing and reinstalling the battery and then charging on the wall charger a full day, plus a hard reset and then a restore from backup file, revived it all three times.
* Also, be sure to purchase an aluminum case for it. I've heard of the screens breaking, but mine has been fine.
* If the memory keeps running out on you, be sure to clear the Internet Explorer cache.
* Make sure to install all large programs to your storage card instead of main memory. Save main memory for programs you always need on hand, no matter what card is in the slot.

My Ipaq has been reliable, useful, and fun. I love that I can program Python on it, so that if I can't find a program that does what I want, I can probably just write it. In its case it is sturdy. I can access the internet anywhere I can get a wireless signal. And, it's almost three years old, now--who would have thought! When my HP RX3115 finally bites the dust, I intend to buy another RX3115.

ipaq rx 3115,
by Clement Chiwaula, 2008-05-24

My ipaq rx 3115 is just a total package for me as a medical student,it has all i need, the most important is the wiress features which enable me to connect even during rounds in the hospital. I bought a 2GB SD card to expand the volume. I can access my laptop using the ipaq mobile media and copy files from it isnt that cool? it is simply a tight fit.

Everything has some probs this model runs on windows 2003 se software which is kind of old and limited packages. with wi-fi the battery drains alittle fast
